Cuddle a Koala!
Our Queensland koalas differ considerably in size, in comparison to koalas found in the southern part of Australia. Given the differing habitats and climates, QLD koalas are somewhat smaller and do not have the same fluffy fur as those Koalas who live in VIC and NSW – there is no need for warmer coats in the tropics! Koalas are the largest of all tree climbing mammals in Australia and are also known to have the loudest vocalisations of all the mammals found on this amazing continent, particularly their deep bellowing in breeding season. Their unique diet of eucalyptus leaves sets them apart from all other species as they are the only mammal that has the digestive system that can cope with the toxic elements found in this low energy food source.
